IPaT Thursday Think Tank: Broadening Participation and Impact through K12 Education and Outreach

Federal research funding agencies, including NSF and DoD, are including “Broader Impacts” as well as “Broadening Participation” as review criteria along with “Intellectual merit”. Other government agencies are following suit. Join Dr. Lizanne DeStefano, Director of the Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics and Computing (CEISMC) and Leigh McCook, STEM@GTRI Director and IPaT Deputy Director in a discussion to explore the intent and purpose of these criteria in research funded proposals and ways to strengthen proposed K12 and outreach activities. They will also discuss resources on campus for collaboration and support in pursuit of K12 and outreach funded research programs.

Moderators: Lizanne DeStefano, Professor of Psychology, and the Executive Director of the Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, & Computing (CEISMC)

Leigh McCook, Deputy Director of the Institute for People and Technology, and Division Chief of the Socio-Technical Division within the Georgia Tech Research Institute Information and Communications Laboratory (GTRI-ICL)
